Welcome to the 2022 PLAN Statewide Training Conference

Ths conference is being held September 15-16, 2022 at the Hilton Harrisburg. Pre-Conference events, including a New Attorney Trial Advocacy Skills Training, will be held on September 14, 2022.

The conference schedule can be viewed at the Schedule link below. Materials from each workshop are linked to the workshop and can be downloaded from the workshop page. Most materials are in PDF format. A PDF reader such at the free Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is required to view the documents.

Selected workshops will be also be available virtually by webinar on the Zoom platform. You must register for individual workshop webinars by clicking the Register for the Webinar link appearing in the workshop description and completing the registration information to be admitted into the webinar. Pennsylvania CLE credits will be available to attorneys who actively participate in webinars and indicate their participation through polls displayed periodically during the webinars.

Brian Gorman

Brian Gorman has been the Executive Director of Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Aid (SPLA) since 2015. Prior to that, Brian served as assistant public defender in Crawford County and assistant and deputy public defender in Washington County for a total of 12 years, and he was a staff attorney in 2001 and 2002 at SPLA. He also had a private practice, primarily in family and criminal law. He served on Washington County’s Treatment Court team for seven years, was a board member for the Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission for six years, and currently serves on the board of Harmony Life Center, a recovery community center, along with the LeMoyne Multicultural Community Center and the Washington County Opioid Overdose Coalition.  Throughout his experiences in legal aid, as a public defender, with specialty court and in board service, Brian has represented and advised many people suffering from substance use and mental health disorders. Brian is a 1996 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and a 1999 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
